It started with a conversation that most of us have had at some point — probably around a dinner table, or after a long day when nobody had the energy to do much of anything.
We were a group of friends in Miami. Some of us American, some Latino, all of us in our 30s and 40s, all of us facing the same uncomfortable reality: we weren't performing the way we wanted to. Not at work. Not at the gym. Not even at home.
The list of complaints was embarrassingly familiar.
- Energy that crashed by 2pm no matter how much coffee we drank
- Weight that crept up slowly and stubbornly refused to leave
- Sleep that was technically happening but never actually restful
- A general sense that our bodies weren't getting what they needed — nutritional gaps we couldn't quite identify but could definitely feel
So we did what everyone does. We went to the supplement aisle.
The Problem with the Supplement Aisle
What we found there was overwhelming, contradictory, and honestly a little depressing.
Dozens of products making enormous claims. Ingredient lists that read like chemistry homework. Capsules the size of your thumb. Powders that tasted like chalk mixed with artificial sweetener. "Natural" products that required you to take six pills a day to get a meaningful dose — and that came with a long list of warnings about liver function.
And underneath all of it, a nagging question: does any of this actually work?
The honest answer, after actually reading the research, was: some of it does. But most products are not formulated with the science in mind. They use the cheapest form of an ingredient, at a dose too low to be effective, in a delivery format the body struggles to absorb. The marketing is loud. The evidence is quiet.
We had another problem too — we simply couldn't maintain the habit. Nobody wants to swallow five capsules every morning. Nobody enjoys a protein shake that tastes like synthetic vanilla. The best supplement in the world is useless if you stop taking it after two weeks.
The Question That Started Everything
So we asked ourselves a different question. Not "what supplement should we take?" but "what would we actually want to take every single day?"
The answer surprised us with how simple it was. Something that actually works — backed by peer-reviewed research, not just marketing copy. Something that doesn't require a handful of capsules or a blender. Something that doesn't wreck your stomach or stress your liver. And something that, honestly, tastes good enough that you look forward to taking it.
That question is where Moogu was born.
Four Problems. Four Real Solutions.
We started by identifying the four problems we were actually trying to solve — not the ones supplement companies told us we had, but the ones we experienced every day:
1. Energy — The Real Kind
Not the caffeine spike that crashes two hours later. Not the pre-workout jolt that makes your heart race. Real, sustained cellular energy — the kind that comes from your mitochondria actually functioning the way they're supposed to.
The research pointed us to Himalayan Shilajit — specifically its Fulvic Acid content, which has been clinically shown to support mitochondrial function and ATP production. A randomized controlled trial published in Andrologia (Pandit et al., 2016) demonstrated significant increases in testosterone, free testosterone, and DHEAS after 90 days — the hormonal foundation of sustained energy and drive. Other adaptogens like Ashwagandha KSM-66, Rhodiola, and Cordyceps have robust clinical evidence supporting stress resilience and physical endurance.
We didn't want one ingredient. We wanted the whole stack — which is why Moogu Shilajit+ combines 8 clinically-supported ingredients in a single daily serving.
2. Weight Management — Without the Misery
Weight gain in your 30s and 40s is not a willpower problem. It is largely a metabolic problem — declining insulin sensitivity, blood sugar fluctuations that drive cravings, and a body that has become more efficient at storing fat than burning it.
The research pointed us to Dihydroberberine (DHB) — the upgraded, more bioavailable form of Berberine — which activates AMPK, the body's metabolic master switch. A 2026 study published in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism confirmed DHB directly targets glucokinase to normalize insulin secretion. Studies show DHB has up to 5x greater bioavailability than standard Berberine, works at 1/3 the dose, and causes significantly fewer digestive side effects.
We paired it with 12 additional ingredients — Myo-Inositol, Apple Cider Vinegar, Ceylon Cinnamon, Gymnema, White Kidney Bean, and more — each chosen for a specific, science-backed role in metabolic health.
3. Sleep — The Most Underrated Performance Tool
We all knew we weren't sleeping well. What we didn't fully appreciate was the cascade of consequences: impaired cognitive function, elevated cortisol, increased appetite, reduced muscle recovery, accelerated aging. Poor sleep doesn't just make you tired — it makes every other health problem worse.
The research pointed to a combination of Magnesium Bisglycinate (the most bioavailable form of magnesium, which plays a critical role in GABA production and nervous system regulation), GABA (the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation), and Valerian Root — supported by clinical evidence for reducing sleep onset time and improving sleep quality.
This became Moogu Night+.
4. Nutritional Gaps — The Silent Saboteur
Most people in the modern world are deficient in at least one critical micronutrient — often several. Zinc, magnesium, B vitamins, Vitamin D — deficiencies in these compounds don't announce themselves dramatically. They show up as low energy, poor mood, reduced immunity, brain fog, and the general feeling that something is just slightly off.
Shilajit's 85+ ionic trace minerals address many of these gaps directly — not as isolated synthetics, but in the complex, bioavailable mineral matrix that the body recognizes and uses efficiently.
Why Gummies — And Why It Matters
We made a deliberate decision early on: no capsules, no powders, no complicated protocols.
The science of behavior change is clear on this point. The harder a habit is to maintain, the faster it breaks. Supplements only work if you take them consistently — and consistently means every day, for months, not just until the novelty wears off.
Gummies change the equation. They are portable, require no water, no measuring, no preparation. They taste good — sweetened with Monk Fruit, no sugar, no artificial dyes. You take them because you want to, not because you made yourself.
But we didn't compromise on the science to make them taste good. Every ingredient in every Moogu product is dosed at clinically relevant levels, sourced in its most bioavailable form, and independently verified by third-party laboratories.
The Moogu Standard
From the beginning, we committed to three non-negotiables:
- Science first. Every ingredient has peer-reviewed clinical evidence behind it. We don't include something because it sounds good — we include it because the research supports it.
- Third-party verified. Eurofins and UL certified. Every batch tested for heavy metals, pathogens, and adulterants. Certificate of Analysis available. Because your trust is not something we take lightly.
- Clean formulas. Sugar-free, vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free. No fillers, no synthetic dyes, no compromises on what goes into the product.
This Is Still Personal
Moogu is not a faceless corporation. It is still a group of friends in Miami who got tired of feeling less than their best and decided to do something about it — with science, with honesty, and with the stubborn belief that supplements should actually work and actually taste good.
Every product we make, we take ourselves. Every formula we develop, we test on ourselves first. Every claim we make, we back with research we can show you.
That's not a marketing line. That's just the truth.
Welcome to Moogu.
